South Yorkshire students Get into Printing
Students from South Yorkshire have been encouraged to get into print with an initiative supported by print firms across the region.
The first students to complete the Prince's Trust "Get into Printing" programme, established through PrintYorkshire working with the Jigsaw programme, received their certificates at a ceremony at Thomas Rotherham College.
Thomas Rotherham College managed the programme on behalf of the Prince's Trust and worked closely with Sheffield Futures to devise and deliver the course, which saw six young people, between the ages of 16 and 25, receive work experience with print firms in Sheffield and Rotherham.
Funding for the scheme was provided by The Trust for Education in South Yorkshire, Yorkshire Forward and the South Yorkshire Learning & Skills Council. Trust Administrator Trevor Nuttall comments: "We saw this as a great opportunity for young people in this region to really get into the printing industry and find out what it has to offer. The partnership between PrintYorkshire, The Prince's Trust, Thomas Rotherham College and Sheffield Futures appears to have achieved that aim and demonstrates how working together we can really benefit both industry and young people."
