Paid employment - Practical hands-on experience - Training

Jigsaw gives you paid employment with training.

The Jigsaw Programme works with businesses in South Yorkshire who are looking to take on extra staff and want to grow their business. The businesses we work with are from high growth sectors of the economy; Creative & Digital Industries, Advanced Manufacturing & Metals, Bioscience, Business, Professional & Financial Services, and Environmental & Energy Technologies.

"It's a bit of a vicious circle because no one is willing to give you a chance, but with Jigsaw its different. They found me this job straightaway, and things couldn't be going any better." Lisa Corlett, trainee graphic designer, Coolpics.

How Jigsaw Works

Employers advertise their vacancies through us and we publish the vacancies on this website (view vacancies). You need to register by completing a short from and you can then upload your CV on to our system. You will receive regular notification of our vacancies. If you want to apply for a particular position all you need to do is presss the Apply button and your details and CV are sent to the employer. If the business thinks you may be the right person for them they will invite you in for an interview. If you are successful, you will be taken on by the business and the business will employ you. Initially the contract is on a temporary basis for 6 months. 76% of Jigsaw placements (July 06) achieve a permanent job at the end of their 6 months.

Training

We agree a training plan for you with the business. The exact training agreed will depend on the particular job within the business. People who have completed Jigsaw in the past have undertaken a wide range of training; from web design using Macromedia and Adobe applications, technical IT training leading to Microsoft Certified Professional status and IT applications training such as Microsoft Office Specialist.
