Skills for Business is the commercial training arm of the Sheffield College, one of the largest further education providers in Europe.

We have found that what employers value across all sectors is relevant, timely knowledge transfer and professional updating, delivered to the highest standards. As a result, we have established the Skills for Business industry training strategy, which is grounded in the perspective that to grow our economy in the North we must supply the best knowledge transfer, training and envisioning opportunities available anywhere in the world in partnership with leaders of industry and expert practitioners.

Jigsaw is one of the key outcomes of that process. It only represents a few aspects of what we are doing in our Skills for Business initiative. We are now collaborating with world-leading organisations, technical leaders and industry specialists across a range of sectors to provide a real-time, responsive industry training service.'

1. Skills for Business can offer Microsoft Office Specialist courses to your Jigsaw trainees for only £25.00, and courses for your other employees at a fraction of the full cost.

2. South Yorkshire businesses can also benefit from technical training. Skills for Business courses are tailored for employed individuals looking to gain hands-on-skills. Businesses in the following sectors are eligible for up to a 40% discount to help subsidise staff training: advanced manufacturing and metals; bioscience; business, professional & financial services; creative and digital industries, environmental and energy technologies; and engineering, manufacturing and metals. A range of accredited courses are available, including new level two courses on Open Source Software.

Skills for Business is also the Sheffield broker for the Jigsaw Trainee placement scheme - this scheme can provide a six-month wage subsidy to help employers in South Yorkshire's high growth sectors to recruit and train suitable staff, filling vital skills gaps that are currently preventing business development.
